Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry

Step In Construction is a 2-day course combining financial literacy and white card training. Our White Card training, also known as CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is accredited by WorkSafe Victoria and nationally recognised. This training is essential for those looking for or maintaining work in the thriving construction industry in Australia. 

People experiencing a disability are encouraged to apply. This course is an approved activity by Centrelink and contributes towards your participation requirements. 

Upon successful completion, you gain: 

  • A Statement of Attainment in CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry 
  • The Construction Induction Card (White Card) issued by WorkSafe Victoria  
  • Statement of Participation for Financial Literacy Workshop 
  • Skills and knowledge to better manage money

Course content 

  • Financial literacy – personal budgeting, wages, taxes, superannuation  
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry [white card] 
When you complete CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, the RTO will give you a Statement of Attainment on the same day. A Statement of Attainment is an official certificate from the RTO. It confirms that you have completed the required construction induction training. This certificate is valid for 60 days. You can use it as proof to start work in construction while your White Card is being processed.

The RTO will submit your training details to WorkSafe Victoria. WorkSafe Victoria will then process your record and issue your White Card. You should allow up to 60 days from course completion to receive your card in the mail. If the course you choose does not meet all required criteria, you may not be issued a valid White Card. Without a valid White Card, you cannot undertake construction work.

Classroom based, 100% face to face delivery. Our experienced White Card Trainer and Assessor providers support and understanding all course content, assessments and how to better money wages.
Time: 9.30am to 4.30pm

To facilitate the issuance of high-risk work licence, construction induction cards (White Cards), we must share your personal and assessment details with the relevant Victorian regulators:
  • WorkSafe Victoria: In accordance with RTO conditions, your personal information—including identity documents and assessment results—will be disclosed to WorkSafe Victoria to process your licence application or verify your competency.

Requirements 

You will need the following to complete your application: 
1. USI number: You must have a USI number prior to applying for a course  
You can locate your USI by visiting here: www.usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi 
If you do not have a USI you can create a USI here: www.usi.gov.au/providers/create-usi-student 
2. Email: address and login details in order to complete the course application 
3. Photo Identification: for our Trainer and Assessor to sight e.g. drivers’ licence, passport, key pass 

Fees 

$3,700 = equivalent to $247 per student per day for a group 15.
